Animated Filmstrip Textures

Active Worlds supports the use of "filmstrip" textures on objects to animate surfaces. Filmstrip textures are treated as a tall strip of square frames intended to each display in turn as a repeating sequence.

A texture with a height which is an exact integer multiple of it's width is automatically treated as a filmstrip texture. For example a texture which is 1024 pixels tall would be treated as 2 frames if it's width is 512 pixels, or as 4 frames if it's width is 256 pixels, or as 16 frames if it's width is 64 pixels. Likewise, if a texture's width is exactly 100 pixels, then a height of 1000 pixels would cause it to be treated as a filmstrip made of 10 frames, each 100 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall.

The frames of a filmstrip texture change at the current frame rate of your Active Worlds browser. There is presently no way use ordinary textures as filmstrips or filmstrip textures as ordinary textures, or to set or alter the filmstrip display rate.

Some features of Active Worlds do not currently support filmstrip textures.
