Sprites or Facer Objects

 

These are facer objects, also known as sprites. Most of them are actually flat like panel objects, but can look 3D because they turn to face you as you move. Traditionally, sprites have been used to improve performance by only having to render a simple object such as a picture of a tree rather than a much more complex object such as a 3D tree with branches that you can actually climb on.

The basic idea behind sprite objects is that they should generally they look the same from all angles. Many of the dimensions listed here are approximate, since these objects don't have true "measurements" in the sense that normal 3D objects do.
