Active Worlds 3.0 introduced some new abilities for bot designers to take advantage of. The most significant is that bots can now be given the ability to teleport other users around in a world, or even to other worlds. However, in order to teleport other users, a bot must have been granted eject or caretaker privileges in that world, or universe administration privileges.
The ability of bots to move other users around has many applications. For example, a bot could take visitors on a guided tour of a world without the user having to follow the bot around manually. There are also many applications for game worlds. For example, in a tag game, tagged players could be "frozen" in place, or automatically sent back to a "home" location when tagged.
Bot developers who wish to take advantage of bot teleports should refer to the new aw_teleport() method in the SDK documentation for details.
Note that in order for bot teleports to work, the world must be running version 3.0 or later of the Active Worlds world server, and the user(s) must be running version 3.0 or later of the Active Worlds browser.
In Active Worlds 3.0 bots can also be given the ability to change the world light sources at any time while the bot is logged in with caretaker privileges. This can be used, for example, to create a bot that automatically provides a rotating day/night cycle in a world, complete with a moving sun.
