Shared Privileges

Shared Privileges allow a citizen or a bot to acquire the rights and privileges of another citizen, without actually loging in as that citizen.

When you acquire the privileges of another citizen, you "act as" them wherever issues of ownership or permission are concerned. You can enter a world if they can. You can change their property, and if you build anything, it will be owned by them. If the person who's privileges you have acquired has eminent domain or public speaker privileges in a world, or any other special rights, you will inherit those rights while in that world. At the same time, you will give up any special rights you already had, and will not get them back until you give up the acquired privileges. However, during all this time, your own name will still be displayed when you chat with other people, and log file entries will still identify you as yourself.

In order for someone to acquire your privileges, you need to have specified a privilege password in the Citizen Attributes dialog. You then give this password to the other person, who then goes to the Acquire Privileges dialog where they enter your citizen name and the privilege password you just gave them. Note: Your login password and your privilege password are not the same thing.

To give up acquired privileges and restore your own privileges, clear the checkbox in the Acquire Privileges dialog, and click OK.

Be very cautious about giving out your privilege password. Change or delete your privilege password when it is no longer needed. Never give out your login password!

The primary purpose of Shared Privileges is to allow you to share your account with other people without the danger of losing it. The privilege password alone does not allow anyone to change anything about your account. Also, when multiple people are sharing the same account in this manner, they still retain their own individual names when they speak.
