Activeworlds.com Completes First Phase of Chinese Browser Localization
Activeworlds.com, Inc., today announced that it successfully completed the first phase of its Chinese version of Activeworlds. Under an exclusive agreement signed in April appointing Taiwan based BEXTech as exclusive distributor of Activeworlds for both Mainland China and Hong Kong, Activeworlds has been retained to create a Chinese version of its popular browser that can support Chinese characters.
"With a significant portion of our revenues coming from overseas, this is a very important step in the globalization of Activeworlds" said JP McCormick, Chairman of Activeworlds.com. "We are very pleased to see that Activeworlds is capable of supporting the Chinese character set as this opens the door to many more language sets for the future", added Mr. McCormick.
This latest development will give Active Worlds the additional capability to offer native languages support for Japanese, Korean, Thai, Arabic, Russian, Greek, Turkish, and Hebrew.
BEXTech is planning to open to the public on July 15, 2000 its 3D Community, eWorldFun, using the Active Worlds(TM) technology.
