AWNews Overhaul

AWNewsFor those of you who don't know about the AWNews Organization: we are a group of AW citizens providing a weekly publication with all sorts of articles pertaining to the Active Worlds community and software.

We recently spent a lot of time putting together a whole new look for our web site. But we didn't start with the look - we also upgraded to an industry-leading open source content management system. Leaving our previous CMS means that our Cover page is now fully integrated in the CMS, in addition to our informational pages. This means you can login and view dynamic content directly from our homepage! Our new CMS is also faster and more stable, making for a much more enjoyable experience.

Great new features:

—Easy Syndication/Feed Viewing:

Check out our most recent publications using our Really Simply Syndication XML feed. An information page about this feature, and about how you can syndicate your content on AWN, will soon be online.

—AW Video:

One of our favorites: our new video streaming feature helps us bring you amazing AW-related video content. And because we use a Flash video player, the only plug in you'll need is Adobe Flash Player.

We'll start with beautiful videos of worlds throughout AW made by AW citizens. We're also currently working on a deal with GCTV to produce video based shows for broadcast on AWNews.

AWNews is accepting any video content related to AW within content guidelines. Please contact us about submitting your work! Not sure how to make an AW video? In the coming weeks we will be building an information page to help you get started making AW videos.

—Fully Integrated:

If you're familiar with AWNews you'll know how our Cover page has long been independent to our content pages, limiting our integration and user-friendliness. That's all changed now as our Cover is the homepage of our CMS. You can now login, see poll results, and view recent content changes right from the Cover!

—Feedback:

We're always interested in your feedback. Now, we offer an extremely simple contact form for your feedback, content suggestions, and support requests. You can even use it to send us your This Week in AW tips. Just click an appropriate link on the bottom of any page on AWN.
