Building Tips For Getting Started ( Land Cover )

Ever cried that we cant use Robo Builder in AW to cover our land? Well, there is another way, its not quite as fast, but it is legal :o)

Build a long line of walkxxxh's, enough that so when you fly high in the air you can still see them all without them zbuffering into the ground. Then right click and hit INSERT(duplicate) on each one.....you'll now have an overlapping line of walks 21 clicks wide. Press shift and control and right click on each one of the latest series of walks and move them all at once 19 clicks in the direction they should go to make up the 20 clicks ( 19 + the duplication jump)..... keep doing the same thing until you have your ground neatly covered :o)

Remember to check for overlaps every now and then, if your like me and cant always count to 20! Overlaps are not only ugly but cause your computer to lag, and also throw whatever you intend to build on the site out of an even count.

Land Cover is essential in AW, it prevents vandalism and also allows one to accurately space out the walls and floors for the actual building, always do it first....not after:o)

Tip: dont add text to the description lines of your ground cover such as "Fred's land". It causes unsightly flashing as you move around in an area, if your cursor is positioned over the screen. Not to mention it is a waste of space as each text character (one byte each) you use when building an object ( including the description, date and owner lines) contributes to the "Area Full" message.

Another tip: be careful to get that first walk RIGHT! It should be perfectly inline with the AW axis and at the right height......at least five shift clicks above the ground or more. Its important that your build doesn't start off on a skew, or you could have problems with vandalism and gaps later.

And remember:o) it never hurts to telegram nearby builders asking if they mind a new neighbour. They may be planning an expansion and there IS plenty of other land in AW.

Happy Building:o)
