Peacekeeper Tips

Peacekeeper Tips There has been a lot of attention in the press of late regarding cyber bullying. In some cases bullying on the Internet has resulted in suicide. Fortunately, Active Worlds does not tolerate that kind of behavior and has an organization to keep the peace. Everyone knows that Peacekeepers do eject people. What many people don't know is that it is not an arbitrary decision. The decision to eject a person is based entirely on the Active Worlds guidelines. Getting ejected is a form of rejection. Quite frankly being thrown out of a world is not a badge of courage, it is a disgrace.

The guidelines are really easy to understand; basically they say "don't harass other people." It is a condition of use and that means when you sign on to Active Worlds you agree to certain expected behaviors. Among those is respecting others.

Using profane language, flooding, sexual, and racial or place of origin related disparaging remarks are clearly violations of the guidelines. Just doing a violation will not get an individual ejected. That occurs when the individual disregards a request, normally from a Peacekeeper, to desist. When the individual refuses and continues to break the guidelines then an ejection occurs.

Evidence is Needed

In a number of cases it is entirely possible for an individual to apologize and then to behave and not get ejected. The Peacekeepers really do not like to eject people. It is our least favorite thing because every ejection has to be backed up by detailed report that provides evidence that the guidelines were broken. Most people do not know that if a Peacekeeper ejects an individual where there is no justification the organization may require that Peacekeeper to repeat training, get counseling, and the chief Peacekeeper will apologize to the individual erroneously ejected. All of this requires common sense and good judgment because it is the goal of the Peacekeepers to ensure that we all have a safe environment.

Take it to WildAW

In closing if you do not wish to follow the guidelines Active Worlds has a world where you can communicate in whatever manner you desire and that world is WildAW. It is not patrolled by Peacekeepers and you will not be ejected but if you go there you are there at your own risk.
