Peacekeeper Tips

Sometimes a user gets harassed and wants to file a Peacekeeper complaint. However in all of the excitement the user turns off the computer only to log back in later and find that the chat documenting the harassment is no longer available.

Logging all Chat

There is a way to keep all of the chat all of the time. This capability is especially useful if you get involved in an ongoing harassment encounter. The Active Worlds web page contains information on how to set the chat function to save chat from your browser.

The chat log is located in the Active Worlds folder on your hard drive and in a text file called "chat". If you use this function it is good insurance however you should check it from time to time because it will continue to grow. As long as your computer is logged into Active Worlds, even if you are not in front of the computer, it will continue to collect the chat.

The file can get pretty big! I suggest checking it at least once a week and throwing away anything you don't want to keep. Should you need to file a report contact a Peacekeeper and be prepared to provide a copy of the chat log. You can cut and paste from the chat text file. Without evidence that the guidelines have been broken Peacekeepers may not be able to fully assist you.
