A V A T A R S 2 0 0 0 Cyberspace for a new Millennium

Avatars2000 is only a few days away, slated to start at noon (US Pacific coast time, GMT-8) on Sunday October 15th. We are excited to give you a preview of the excellent web site built by Simon Tann of Aurora Web Effects, Perth Australia (thanks Simon!), see: http://www.ccon.org/conf00/html/launch.html (html and flash versions available). There you can see images from the fantastic Cyberspace-station built by Titans Studios also of Australia (thanks Win and Razzle!).

Now you can just plain attend and take it all in, or you can leave your mark on AV2000 by becoming a participant! Here is how..

CATEGORIES NOW OPEN FOR SIGN-UP

Ever wanted to become a speaker at an international conference without having to leave the comfort of your home? Are you an aspiring artist who is finding it difficult to get your work seen in a public gallery? Do you have a product or service to promote but could never afford to be part of a tradeshow? Do you design worlds or avatars that you would like to tour people into or enter into a competition to get some recognition? Got a webcam pointed at an interesting scene on this Earth? Well yes indeed, then don't be shy, Avatars 2000 is for you! You can do all of these things in our fantastic 3D conference worlds open for only one day: October 15, 2000. By simple filling in one or more of the web forms listed below you can become part of an event where thousands of people will experience your contribution.

BUILD YOUR BOOTH

Do you run a 3D design shop? Are you a multinational corporation with a product to sell? Are you a group of volunteers who host great events inside virtual communities? Well you might want to book at booth in our fantastic space station ring devoted to the cybertradeshow at AV2000. Choose your optimal spot on the ring and tell us your details and Booths Chair Daphne will get in touch with you about filling out your exhibit area: http://www.ccon.org/conf00/html/booths.htm

SUBMIT YOUR ART

Are you a visual artist, a photographer? A fine or commercial artist? A computer animator? Got your work on the web in JPG format? So enter at: http://www.ccon.org/conf00/html/avvy.htm and Avvys 2000 Chair Casay will be receiving your submission. The big awards will happen starting at 5:30pm Pacific Time on Sunday October 15th. Prizes will include fabulous software to allow you to make.. yet more avatars!

WEBCAMMING TILL YOU DROP? If you love your webcam and are always pointing it at interesting things (including you?). Then point us to it, and it may be selected for the Earthside webcams gallery (no suggestive content please): http://www.ccon.org/conf00/html/webcams.htm

GOT A WHOLE WORLD TO SHOW OFF?

Well maybe you are really a committed citizen of the cyber-realms and you have built an entire world. At AV2000 we have a special part of the space station called Journeys to the Outer Planets, which have portals http://www.ccon.org/conf00/html/worldstour.htm Planetmaker Daphne will get back to you about including your world in the solar system tour.

HOW TO GET TO THE EVENT?

Got a PC running Windows on the net (Mac with Windows emulation OK)? Dial ups are OK. Then go right over to www.activeworlds.com and download the free software (version 3 if you have D3D hardware or Version 2.2 if not). When you have installed the software it will launch you into the worlds, choose any name and enter as a "tourist". Next, teleport to the world AV00 from the list on your left or ask someone for directions. You might also be landed just inside the world. Someone will be there to help you (a Gatekeeper) and you will see a lot of people running around in their "avatars" follow the teleporters through the tubes and explore the CyberSpace-station and all its levels.
