Activeworlds.com Inc. announced today, that it has developed the "virtual premier" of The Thirteenth Floor, a major sci-fi motion picture in conjunction with the Columbia TriStar Interactive division of Columbia Pictures, a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment (NYSE: SNE), and Centropolis Interactive and will be premiered over the Internet, at www.thethirteenthfloor.com, on Monday, May 24th. at 9:00p.m. (Eastern Time). This important landmark in entertainment history represents Hollywood's first pairing of the established medium of the motion picture and the far-reaching power of the Internet, with Activeworlds' proprietary 3-D technology leading the way in creating the "virtual premier".
Cyber-viewers around the world will be able to experience first-hand all of the excitement, exhilaration and glitz of a live Hollywood premier, in all it's splendor. Attending the premier will be the stars of the movie, Craig Bierko, Vincent D'Onofrio, Gretchen Mol, and Dennis Haysbert, as well as many of entertainment's biggest stars, including Martin Lawrence, Jean Claude Van Damm, Jennifer Love Hewett, and Sarah Michelle Geller. The virtual experience will include close-up views of the stars, as they arrive at the premier. Viewers will have the opportunity to participate in interactive discussions with both the stars of the movie, as well as the makers of the film. Furthermore, anyone logging on will be able to walk along side the stars on the "red-carpet". The "Virtual Premier" will include bleachers for the fans, and journalists who will be able to conduct a live Question and Answer "chat" with the stars as they arrive at the festivities. For the first time, cyber-viewers will also be able to directly access a "movie-trailer", featuring actual film footage of the "Thirteenth Floor" from the convenience of their own personal computers.
