AWCC Anniversary and AWEC Award Voting!

On January 17th 1999, a world was created to act as an information/resource center for the Activeworlds community. This would was called the Activeworlds Community Center, or the AWCC. It is the home base to organizations such as AWEC (Active Worlds Event Committee), AWHS (Activeworlds Historical Society), AW Com Reg (Activeworlds Community Register), AW Info Squares (Activeworlds Information Squares) and CY Awards. Since then, these organizations have worked to provide you, the community, with information and activities to enhance your Activeworlds experience. We also will present the AWEC Award, in recognition of the most popular event for 2002. But we will need your help. Please vote for your favorite event at our Anniversary website. This January, we will celebrate AWCC's creation in its third Anniversary. This year's theme is, "Looking to Our Future…By Remembering Our Past". Please join us on Saturday and Sunday, January 18th and 19th, as we show our appreciation for these wonderful organizations. AWEC Artist Award

Artists of Activeworlds beware! We will be seeking out the talented artists in Activeworlds Community this month in order to recognize you for your exceptional talent. If you have something you find worthy of recognition or have seen someone else's works of art and would like to let us know about it, please email awec@awcommunity.org. The competition will be held the entire month of January, with the AWEC Art Award being presented at the AWEC Award Center on Friday, January 31st at 10 pm VRT.

Christmas Present Hunt A Success!

On December 14th, AWEC offered a Christmas Present hunt in Vision2. We are happy to say that the event was a great success! Over 307 people, including tourists, participated in the festivities. The world was crowded with people, presents and laughter. Many of those in attendance were close to finding all 3300 presents. One determined citizen was hunting for close to 11 hours!

A special thank you goes out to Bassa and Sleepy E, who were such a great help and even better sports during the hunt.

After a few technical difficulties and a visit from Santa, we were able to determine the winners! And the winners are.....
