AW Survivor Challenge III:
Mysterious Depths

Courtesy of Brant

Over the past few months, the creators of the first two AW SURVIVOR Challenges have been hard at work to make the third challenge even better than the first two. We hope that this challenge will be enjoyable for all those who participate.

In the AW SURVIVOR Challenges, players compete to be the sole survivor of a group of citizens and tourists, similar to the CBS TV show. Participants meet and chat with their fellow tribe members, build a camp, participate in events and immunity challenges, and eventually vote off others. When all of the other contestants have been eliminated, a final jury vote will be held to determine the winners of the prizes.

This time, the rewards are more valuable than in previous competitions, including a free PS8XE world, a free citizenship, prime advertising land near ground zero, and many other prizes. The theme will be an undersea expedition, constructed by expert builders Cybersaiyan and Nornny, with the help of many others.

In the latest installment of the competition, all "housekeeping" functions are now completely automated by bots, thanks to their programmer Magine. Signups occur on the day of the event, so that "no-shows" that have been a problem in previous challenges will be eliminated. Voting now consists simply of whispering to the bots the name of the member you wish to vote against when the time comes, and tribal leaders are no longer necessary. In addition, problematic games such as tic-tac-toe that caused trouble in prior challenges have been eliminated, replaced with all-new events. Finally, tourists are now allowed to join in the action as well as citizens to win a free citizenship.

The AW SURVIVOR Challenge II: Frozen Desert, held on March 10, 2001, attracted a record high of 84 avatars to the competition area, 64 of which signed up to participate. The final tribal council was held seven hours after the start time of 2PM VRT.

We hope that you'll join us to participate in the challenge on Saturday, June 9. Signups will begin at 1PM VRT, and anyone is welcome to participate or stop by at any time during the challenge to watch. More information is available at http://www.active-worlds.co.uk/awteen/survivor.html. You can email awteen@shoemakervillage.org with any questions.

Hope to see you there!
