Getting to Know Our Citizens!

This month Kiwi chats with citizen Pelican.

Kiwi interviews PelicanKiwi: Hey Peli how are you doing? Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with me.

Kiwi: Where are you from Peli?

Pelican: New Jersey, USA

Kiwi: How long have you been a part of Active Worlds?

Pelican: Five or six years more or less.

Kiwi: You're a world owner and a modeler, and very much respected by everyone for your talent and creativity in Active Worlds. You're always happy to help others in AW. Me included, and you didn't yell once. Probably muttered under your breath a lot though lol.

Kiwi: What is the name of your world Pelican if people want to find you?

Pelican: The world name is also "Pelican" although citizens can visit
AWTrains, TownHall and the AWF universe for a larger sampling of my models.

Kiwi: How would you describe yourself?

Pelican: I like to think of myself as someone who accomplishes things to the
end. I always try to act upon new ideas and thoughts and not let them waste
away.

Kiwi: What would you improve for world owners if you could?

Pelican: Well, I am currently forming a consortium of citizens to analyze just
that. Our community, as everyone can see, has experienced a somewhat
eye-opening attrition rate of its citizens. I think a few consortium members
have pinpointed a handful of ideas to help diminish that and we'll be
addressing them shortly. The AW community works hard perfecting their
art/craft/science. If we can dovetail our ideas, we can become something
greater than we can imagine. We're on the threshold of stepping into an
entirely new era for Active Worlds

Kiwi: Do you think AW has done enough to protect the kids that are a part of our community?

Pelican: I think improvement can be made from several venues. It isn't just
one entity's responsibility.

Kiwi: I have met a lot of really nice people in AW. Is there anyone that
stands out to you as someone who has done a lot for AW?

Pelican: I couldn't even begin to list the myriad of people who have been kind
and giving, beyond caring about the core human being in AW... present company
included. It sometimes escapes me how such beautiful people found their way
into this little electronic pocket on the web.

Kiwi: What are you working on now?

Pelican: I'm currently consolidating my world Pelican. I might drop the size
of it upon renewal.

Kiwi: Can we have the link to your web page so people can see your amazing objects?

Pelican: http://www.pelican3d.com

Kiwi: I love AW and have a lot of fun here with friends. What do you do for fun when you're not working in AW?

Pelican: Modeling IS fun for me.

Kiwi: Give me one thing you would change about AW if you could.

Pelican: I think newbies coming to AW get lost very easily and maybe discouraged. The Gatekeepers do a great job at the AWGate but there is just so much one person can offer a newbie. I believe it's best to allow a newbie to "discover" for themselves what AW is all about. That information must be available to a newbie quickly and easily. Not a full school of info, just a tease or two from different avenues one might pursue while here.

To present, those "teases" have come from other citizens. Now with fewer citizens, it's even more difficult. Maybe once every week or two, EVERYONE gets together in one place, and we set the starting point to the uni right there. Just for the evening. Now the newbies will meet network people, graphic artists, modelers, socializers... they're bound to find a niche just for them.

Kiwi: Thank you for your time Peli. It's been awesome chatting with you. Have a great day.
