Things to Do in AW

I like spending time in Active Worlds during any of the holidays because the activities always tend to increase. Interestingly enough I actually was not able to make it to some of the events I wanted to because family had to take priority (as it should).

In the real world things go on like son having karate three times a week and daughter getting ready to leave for college in January (the latter being a little scary for mom since it is out of state). The good thing is that she is a citizen of Active Worlds and it is a great way for us to connect and do things together no matter how far away she is, that is, when she is not too busy with her college life.

Needless to say I missed Digigurl’s Halloween party in Yellow. I was a bit disappointed because I was really looking forward to it. She tends to give really great parties. If you haven’t been to one of her events you should really make it a point to do so. With all of the Halloween events in Active Worlds, such as the build competition in AWTeen and new objects being loaded to use for Halloween builds in worlds like Yellow and AW, there have been many new and wonderful builds that have popped up.

The Haunted Mansion

If you haven’t gone to see them you should. My favorite build though is one that was done back in 2007 and it was done for a ride competition. SW Chris was the builder and I loved it. The Haunted Mansion was one of my favorites at Disney Land and when I saw his build in Rides4Us I thought it was amazing! Go check it out at Rides4Us 19.36S 0.66W 0.01a 92 and let yourself be amazed.

Games

I came across this world called AWGames the other day. I decided to go check out which games were in the world. I figured the standard games would be there such as checkers and chess and maybe even Spades. I also figured that there would be games that you have to have someone else there to play with. What I found was much better than that. This is a place where my daughter and I can spend time together and enjoy that time together while she is away at college. There were games like Othello, checkers, and chess, but the coolest thing I found was the bowling alley that you can go to. Imagine going bowling with a group of friends that are miles away. There are a number of other games there as well.

AWGames Bowling

There are many other types of games to play in Active Worlds. One of the biggest is Bingo. Bingo is held in quite a few different worlds and at different times. The main worlds that have Bingo are AWBingo (every Wednesday), CitBingo (every Friday only for Citizens), AWTBingo (every Saturday only for tourists), as well as America (every Sunday only for citizens). Bingo is a great way to get the community together and just chat while playing a game. These bingo worlds also offer different prizes that you can win. You should give it a shot and see how much fun just chatting during a game of bingo can be.

The next biggest of the games that are going on regularly would probably be the RPG games. I don’t play RPG games but my son does. There are two RPG worlds in Active Worlds that usually have something going on and those are AWRPG and AWMyths. If RPG is something that you enjoy then go check those two worlds out.

As you can see, when it comes to games there is quite the variety. Don’t hesitate to check out all of these places. Each of these different game worlds are set up with a theme and sometimes just going to a world to check out what the theme is makes it worth the trip. The talent that it takes, to make some of these worlds, is just amazing and definitely well worth the exploration.
