This Month in History July 1999 - "Active Worlds Version 2.2 Coming Soon!"

The citizens on the beta program had been working hard over the last couple of weeks, in July of 1999, testing out the beta version of our latest new version of the Active Worlds software. The good news was that the number of bug reports has been very light, and the few bugs that have been found. Some of the new features in version 2.2 include:

  • Native support for trueSpace COB objects
  • A new "color" action command (use it to change the color of objects)
  • New bot features designed to increase game possibilities

AWCOM'S Family Tree

Many of the names in the AWCOM family are familiar to you -
E N Z O, Cryonics, Roland, Lucrezia Borgia, Young Shamus, and Calpantera. There were additions to the family that also took place. Earlier that year Flagg, chickiefluff and HamFon had joined! The newbies were getting their feet wet in AW, learning all the customs and getting to know the natives.

AWEC's Active Worlds Community Festival '99 Rocks The Universe!

AWCOM were absolutely thrilled with the awesome event that AWEC threw last month! They extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone in the community who participated in the event, and tip their hats to AWEC and the all AWCC groups for all their help and support of the community in past year - each day they help make AW the coolest place on the 'Net!

Active Worlds Summer Camp

The first ever Active Worlds Summer Camp would be starting July 15th at 5:00PM VRT with a huge Kick Off Party in AWCamp.

Gate Keepers Help Was Noticed

The Gate Keepers are citizens of Active Worlds who have decided to devote an amount of their own time to helping new users of the system to get used to the software, the environment, and the culture of ActiveWorlds.
